New York-based Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd is acclaimed as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation. He has been described by The Washington Post as “truly evocative”, and by Classical Guitar Magazine as “a player who deserves to be heard.” He has performed across four continents, from New York’s Carnegie Hall, to festivals in Europe, China, India, Nepal, the Philippines and Australia. Rupert Boyd has three commercially released albums. Fantasías, his most recent solo CD, was released in April this year. It has already been meet with critical acclaim, having been described as “a high quality achievement” by The Canberra Times, as “compelling ‘can’t put it down’ listening” by the Canberra Critics Circle, and “a ‘must hear’ experience” by Minor 7th. His debut album Valses Poéticos received the following review in Soundboard, the quarterly publication of Guitar Foundation of America: “Boyd’s playing is beautifully refined, with gorgeous tone… musically and technically flawless… [the Granados is] one of the best recorded performances of this work on guitar.”
American cellist Laura Metcalf, acclaimed for her “gorgeous cello legatos” (Washington Post) and her “sensitive, melodic touch” (Blog Critics Magazine), is known for her compelling solo and chamber music performances both worldwide and in her home of New York City. Her debut solo album, First Day was released in April 2016 on the Grammy-winning Sono Luminus label and debuted at #7 on the Billboard classical chart. The album has been praised as “a flat-out winner” (Greg Hettmansberger, Madison Magazine) and has prompted multiple critics to hail her as a “major talent.” Laura Metcalf is cellist of acclaimed string quintet Sybarite5, winners of the 2011 Concert Artists Guild Competition, and a member of the cello and percussion quartet Break of Reality with whom she has given hundreds of concerts and educational workshops across the United States, and whose recorded music has a reach of millions worldwide. She has appeared on the David Letterman and Conan O’Brien late-night shows, as well as the Today Show and The View, and at the US Open, New York Fashion Week, and in Johannesburg, South Africa with legendary rap artist Nas.
